Geoff Crabtree - Isle of Man 41 Club

Geoff CRABTREE Obituary

I am sorry to be reporting the passing of Geoff Crabtree aged 83 years, life-long Tabler and 41 Club member, as well as a friend and neighbour.

A native of Oldham, Geoff was an accountant and spent much of his working life in offshore jurisdictions. Along with schoolteacher wife Joan and children they enjoyed life to the full, finally settling down on the Isle of Man in the 1980’s.

Geoff joined Rushen 1072 Round Table and was a stalwart member of their 41 Club until recent years when he more often attended Isle of Man club events where he was also a member. Joan very much enjoyed Tangent life too, being their National President in years 2007 – 2008. Together they particularly enjoyed hosting visiting Tangent dignitaries.

As well as a regular at 41 club meetings, Geoff’s other interests were outdoors, he was a super keen walker, having completed several UK long distance walks. He had a particular affinity with the Manx countryside and was often to be seen around the hills when I was out motorcycling. He was also a keen golfer, a member of Peel golf club since arrival here.

He leaves Joan, sons Cameron and Matthew and other close family members. Brother Bill is still a member of Lytham 41 Club where the 3 of us have attended several super Charter nights together.
