Ron Ponsford - Gordano Valley 41 Club
Gordano Valley 41 is sad to announce the death of Ron Ponsford on the 30th April at the age of 75, after a long illness.
Ron was inducted into Round Table in Ipswich in1976, he then moved to Maidstone Round Table in 1979 before joining Mawling Round Table in 1982.
Business brought Ron to Portishead in Somerset in 1987 where he joined 41 Club. Ron had an active life in Gordano Valley, taking up several officer positions culminating with chairing the club in 1996/97.
Ron supported his wife Sheila at local, area and national level, and was by her side when she was Tangent President in 1998/1999. He was a committed Table and 41 member through many years, assisting in the organisation of Gordano Valley’s Great Western Conference in 1998 and serving on the Torquay National Conference committee in 2019.
Outside 41Club, Ron was well known in the Insurance world, for many years running his own brokerage in Portishead. Ron was a life long Chelsea supporter, an active Lodge member and a long term golfer, playing at Clevedon golf club and turning out for Gordano Valley 41 Club in many area golf competitions.
Ron leaves a widow, Sheila, children Claire and Richard, and four grandchildren. Our sympathies go to them.
Ron will be sadly missed by his many friends in Gordano Valley 41 and Tangent Clubs.
