Book Of Remembrances

Brian Kelly - Hornchurch 41 Club

It is with great sadness that Hornchurch (Region 18) is mourning the death of our dear friend and former Chairman, Brian Kelly. After bravely facing an insurmountable illness over the past few years he finally found peace on 6th September 2021. Brian served Round Table well in the early years both in Wales and England, finishing his time at Goodmayes RT, Essex. He readily embraced life in 41 Club and became a much loved and respected member of Hornchurch. His year as our Chairman in 2017 was, as we expected, lively, entertaining and full of fun under his guidance. His working life was steeped in the motor industry, where he became one of Ford’s leading developers of their air conditioning units. He ended his career heading one of Ford’s largest franchises in Southend, Essex. Those of us who were privileged to have known him enjoyed the friendship a man who was calm, quietly hilarious, supportive and always ready to be a major part of any club event. Although unwell, he embraced our monthly Zoom meetings during lockdown, showing a dogged resilience to still be part of 41 Club life.

There will be an empty seat on match day at the London Stadium and West Ham’s theme tune of ‘Bubbles’ will seem just a little less joyful from now on. Rest easy now Brian, we shall truly miss you.
