David Kenyon - Rugby Webb Ellis 41 Club

David Kenyon 16th February 1947 – 26th January 2022

Rugby Webb Ellis RT & 41 Club and Mumbles RT

It is with great sadness that Rugby Webb Ellis 41 Club announces the passing of David Alan Kenyon on 26th January 2022.

David transferred to Rugby Webb Ellis RT from Mumbles RT in 1978 . He moved to the Midlands to head up a Civil Engineering company in Daventry and settled his family in Rugby.

Immediately his impact was felt in bringing many fresh ideas to our Table particularly in persuading us to attend National Conference for the first time and for many years to follow.

As our Table and 41 Club Chairman David was a stickler for detail, very professional in every regard but in particular seeing things through and getting the job done . To those who knew him he had a very dry and wry sense of humour. The raised eyebrow being one of his more memorable looks. This sense of humour proved particularly successful in getting people to take on tasks they would not otherwise do.

In the 1980's David was struck down with Multiple Sclerosis . Like the man he was and as much as he could, he never let it interfere with his life. He loved his sport .He was a member of Worcestershire Cricket Club . He attended many memorable Rugby and Cricket internationals over the years with his life long Table friends.

He became wheelchair bound in the early 2000's and still he carried on in 41 Club.

In 2001 he and Jeremy sailed on the Lord Nelson tall ship around the Canary Islands which included being winched up to the Crow’s Nest; great memories for him and his friends to look back on.

David and his wife Ann were fantastic hosts running their memorable BBQs at their home in Rugby and house in Italy.

Once he stopped work he took up silversmithing, teaching himself the craft and making many beautiful objects.

David was a family man who fought his illness with fortitude and dignity and with the support from a tight family unit of wife Ann, children Helen and Ian, partners and grandchildren, helped him to deal with MS for nearly 40 years and this characteristic was an example to all.

David will be missed by all who knew him.
