Barry Atkinson - Leyland 41 Club
The obituary for Barry Atkinson who passed away in May 2022 and was our current Leyland 41 Club Chairman.
Barry Atkinson was born in Carlisle in February 1944 and moved to Leyland to set up his Jewellery business, he also opened a second shop in Formby. Even though he moved to Lancashire he kept close to his roots his love of Carlisle United F.C..
With Leyland Round Table, Barry was Press Officer and Orbit Editor in 1982/83 and became Table Service Chairman in 1983/84. Barry was an Honorary Member for three years from 1984/85 to 1986/87.
Barry joined Leyland 41 Club and on 25th April 2022 became Leyland 41 Club Chairman for the second time. On 12th May 2022 Barry collapsed and taken to hospital with a bleed on the brain. Sadly he passed away on the afternoon of Monday 16th May, which also would have been the same night as his first meeting as the 2022/23 Leyland 41 Club Chairman.
Our deepest sympathy, condolences and thoughts are with Barry’s wife Miriam, his sons Craig, who was a member of Leyland Round Table for many years, Paul and the rest of the family. He is sadly missed by all members of Leyland 41 Club.
