John Garland - Henleaze 41 Club
It is with great sadness that Henleaze 41 club reports that John Garland, our founder chairman has sadly died at the age of 84 after a brave fight against a long illness.
John was also the founder chairman of Henleaze Round Table and was responsible for the great spirit of that Table. In particular he oversaw the setting up of a firework display that continues to this day, now run by Bristol Round Table and Clifton Rotary Club, raising over £20,000 annually for local charities
He also led extended walks in the Brecon Beacons and the Lake District, and as a member of the Portbury Institute for Speleological Survey he took a party of Tablers potholing. John served his national service in the Royal Marines and was a lifelong member of the RMR based in Dorset House Bristol.
Our condolences to his wife Maggie, his children Richard and Sarah and their families.
