Londonderry 41 Club is sad to announce the death of Tony Henderson. He passed away suddenly but peacefully on Monday 7th August 2023 aged 86. Cause of death was given as pneumonia. Tony was a very active member of Round Table always promoting and recruiting when he could. He took a great interest in and partook in all Table activities wherever they might be and especially the Area 11 AGM when Londonderry, very successfully, took the Tables of Northern Ireland to The Crest Hotel in Erskine. He was Chairman of Table in 1978 and afterwards became their President and was awarded a Service Medal.
He joined 41 Club in 1981 where he continued with enthusiasm to support and promote all that 41 stands for. Being Chairman in 1987 and again in 2014. He was Area Councillor for two terms and National Councillor for two terms when he always had plenty to offer! Conferences and National Rallies were very much part of his year. In 2018 when President Phill Ellis brought the National AGM to Belfast, Tony was part of the organising committee and was the accredited tour guide for visits to the Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and Derry Walls. He will be very much missed for his unique dedication, humour, and generosity. Our deepest sympathies go to his wife Joan, sons Gary and Colin, their wives and of course his adored grandchildren.
