Canal Boat Trip 9th July 14-03-2024 Club news: Camberley

Message from John Devlin - Hi everyone, following on from Craig's announcement about the Tour of the Theatre Royal Windsor on 13th June, I am pleased to announce the second social event in Howard's year in the Chair, will be in the morning of Tuesday 9th July. So please save the date NOW!

We have hired the John Pinkerton Canal Barge and will travel gently from Odiham along the Basingstoke Canal as far as King John's Castle. Our trip will leave at 10:00 and take up to 2 and a half hours. Some of you will remember that we enjoyed this trip several years ago, can there be a more peaceful way to take in the scenery whilst chatting amongst friends and perhaps getting know those of our group who you don't know so well!

We have chosen a morning cruise as there will be less chance of midges at that time of day as opposed to late afternoon or evening. We have to cover the cost of hiring the John Pinkerton and we hope that we will have sufficient people wanting to come along to keep the price around £10 per head. A fuller boat means a lower fee. Tea and coffee with biscuits and snacks or indeed alcohol can all be bought at the bar on the boat on an individual basis.

It is planned that for those who wish, we would go to a local Odiham venue for lunch but more about that nearer the time.

It would be great if you could reply to me indicating whether or not you feel you are likely to come along on the trip but at this stage I am not looking for a cast iron commitment nor indeed any money at present.
