Chairman Keith, accompanied by John Kilpatrick and Robin Holcombe, met with Isis Area 41 Club to collect their bell which had mysteriously dissapeared at a recent Abingdon meeting at the Crown & Thistle.
The meeting was at the Gurkha Palace at Horspath and everyone enjoyed an evening of curry and fellowship.
Pictured - Isis Vice Chairman Ed Watton hands back the bell to Abingdon Chairman Keith Butler.
Members of Abingdon & District 41 Club said a fond farewell to Chris Bates at their February get together at Bella Napoli.
Chris (and Jenny) have lived in the area for many years, and Chris recalled many of the events that he had been involved in during his time in Abingdon Round Table. Chairman Keith presented him with gifts including Loose Cannon Beer, and 'Bun Throwing' mugs - both symbols of Abingdon. Chris and Jenny are moving to Hove to be closer to their daughter and family. We wish them both well!
Chairman Keith also presented Andrew Hoare as our Vice Chairman with his jewel of office. Andrew will take office as Chairman at the AGM
Chris Allen (Sports Officer) presents the prizes to the winners of the annual Snooker Compertiton which took place at the Agingdon Conservative Club. The winners were Murray Scott and David England (Guest of Chris Allen)
Abingdon's token Scotsman (Colin Webster) addressed the haggis at the Burns Night at the Crown & Thistle on Thursday 25th January. This was the first meeting in the year and the Club agreed to donate £115 to the National President's Charity - Prostate Cancer.
On behalf of Abingdon & District 41Club, Chairman Keith Butler laid a poppy wreath at the memorial in Abingdon's Market Square on Remembrance Sunday.
Members of Abingdon & District 41 Club were treated to an excellent talk by Roger Thomas of the Abingdon Area Archaelogy and History Society, at a meeting in the old H.Samuel shop in Bury Steet Abingdon. Roger gave an excelelnt and fascinationg talk on our history incovering many facts members were unaware of.
An interactive map can be found at CLICK HERE. Members then went on to Bella Napoli for an excellent meal and fellowship.
